Durch Düngung und Mahd kommt es im Grasland zu einer Selektion von schnelllebigen Organismen, über alle Nahrungsketten hinweg. Das führt zu einer Systembeschleunigung und es entstehen Lebensgemeinschaften, die deutlich weniger widerstandsfähig sind.

Das Bundesamt für Umwelt bewilligt den ersten Feldversuch mit einem Getreide, das mit einem neuen gentechnischen Verfahren verändert worden ist. Die fragliche Gerste enthält aber keine artfremden Gene.
